Australian Scientists and Mesothelioma Victims Unite

According to, victims of asbestos-related mesothelioma have joined medical researchers to try and find a cure for the deadly disease. The article begins with introducing Barry Knowles. Barry worked as a building and handled asbestos materials all of his life, so he was not surprised when he was diagnosed with mesothelioma 2010. Within a year of that diagnosis, with his physical and mental health declining, Barry was told he only had weeks to live. Fast forward 6 years and Mr. Knowles is “still alive and defying the odds”.

After finding out he only had weeks to live, Barry found renewed purpose in supporting his family and raising awareness about mesothelioma. This is how Barry Knowles met Larry Graham. Mr. Graham is responsible with helping close down Australia’s largest blue asbestos mine at Wittenoom. Graham was surprised to find out that Mr. Knowles was still alive after 6 years. Impressed by Knowles’ amazing story, Mr. Graham has now turned his attention to helping Mr. Knowles and medical researchers find a cure for mesothelioma.

“The Reflections Through Reality Foundation has been established to raise funds from donations and through the sale of Barry Knowles’ autobiography. As a director, Mr. Graham hopes the foundation can fund the search for a cure for asbestos-related diseases and support sufferers.”
