St. Louis Steam Pipe Rupture Causes Asbestos Fiber Release

Abatement crews cleaned all through the night and into Tuesday, April 10, 2012, following a positive reading for asbestos, according to St Louis television station KSDK. The St. Louis City Health Department has released information about asbestos tests following last weeks steam line break. Two of the samples came back positive for some amount of asbestos.

Health officials say residents don’t have to evacuate, but they should stay clear of cleaning crews who will be working throughout the night. There is a possibility the roads will reopen soon after the asbestos cleanup.
